Gandhinagar/Ahmedabad: Welcoming the results for BJP in the recently held assembly polls including landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and terming it as ‘people’s endorsement to the excellent policies of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today said that the voters have rejected the caste-based politics in the elections.
He also ruled out any possibility of early elections in Gujarat in the wake of the assembly polls results.
Talking to the newsmen today Rupani said that the results showed the end of politics of caste and creed. People have accepted and endorsed policies and good governance of PM Modi led BJP government.
He also said that the results of UP and Uttarakhand reflects the mood of people in the country. ‘Poor and middle class people have supported BJP overwhelmingly. They have endorsed the policy of demonetization, surgical strike and other pro people policies of the Prime Minister Modi,’ he said adding that people have done ‘vote-bandhi’ (putting lock on votes) for those who had opposed the Notebandhi (demonetization) of Modiji.
To a query, Rupani said that which ever party went with Congress, sank down.’Congress is like a sinking boat and whoever took a ride on it sank,’ he said on the dismal performance of the incumbent SP in UP which contested the election in alliance with Congress there.
Taking a jibe at congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, he said, ‘ his father Rajiv Gandhi was a pilot who used to fly planes but Rahul went on to push cycle (the poll symbol of SP) in UP only to turn it all in to a fiasco.”
He also said that BJP would also win Gujarat assembly polls slated to be held this year with huge margin.
Rupani, reiterated that the speculations about early polls in the state were not true. ‘The polls will held in time as I see no reason for holding early polls as of now,’ he said.
