Scrapped Rs 500/1000 notes worth 28.56 lakhs seized from car in Surat, 5 nabbed

Surat: Altogether five persons were nabbed from a car in Surat city last night with scrapped notes of Rs 500 and 1000 denominations worth over Rs 28 lakhs, police said today.
Based on a tip off the police checked the car in causeway area under Rander police station of the city.
Demonetized notes worth Rs 28.68 lakhs were seized from the car. The Income tax department has also been informed about the recovery.
Notably police in Ahmedabad had seized such scrapped notes worth over 50 lakhs in four recoveries last month during which over a dozen people were also arrested.
