Gujarat NRE Coke shuts down operation at Khambhalia; laborers complain non-payment of wages

Jamnagar: Gujarat NRI Coke company has shut down its plant in Khambhalia in Devbhumi Dwarka district of Gujarat.
According to office bearers of local unit of Bharatiya Majadur Sangh, they have made representation in district collector office against non-payment of wages to around 200 laborers for last three months by company.
According to them, the laborers are asked by the company to shift to the plant located in other state. The laborers hav not received salary for last three months. If the company doesn’t resume its operation at Khambhalia, the laborers employed there will face very difficult situation.
Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd has two metallurgical coke plants in Khambhalia and Bhachau in Gujarat and the third plant in Dharwad in Karnataka.
