March 18, 2017
Surat: Police has not granted permission to the rally/public meeting of PAAS leader Hardik Patel proposed to be held at Yogi chowk in Patidar dominant Varachha area of Surat city tomorrow.
Police Commissioner of Surat Satish Sharma today said that the permission for the meeting has been denied in the wake of the ongoing 10/12 th Gujarat board examinations. ‘We have conveyed to Jignesh Vaghasia, a member of PAAS, who had applied for the permission to the meeting, that it can’t be granted. The meeting proposed to be held in the evening in a residential area will disturb the students who are appearing for the board exams,’ Sharma said.
He said, ”We have given them two options if they want permission; either to hold the meeting elsewhere outside the residential localities or hold it after March 27 when the board exams are over.’
The police commissioner said that so far the organizers of the rally have not responded positively about any of the two suggestions.
