Amid wave of BJP across the country, party to win Gujarat polls overwhelmingly: Ravi Shanker Prasad

Gandhinagar: Union Minster for Law and Justice and Senior BJP leader Ravi Shanker Prasad today said that amid a wave of BJP across the country, the party would see an overwhelming victory in the coming assembly elections in Gujarat.

Talking to newsmen here today Prasad said, ” The whole country is seeing a wave of BJP. We have won 325 seats of 403 member UP assembly, 58 of 70 member Uttrakhand. We have our government in 14 states. We have made our presence felt in far away states like Manipur Orissa and Kerala. In Gujarat elections too we will win overwhelmingly.’

To a query he took a jibe at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and said that we also want the Congress as an opposition to be stronger but the problem is with Rahul. ‘It is Congress which is to work for its strength, the BJP can’t do it,’ Prasad said.

Countering him, Gujarat Congress President and former minister Bharatsinh Solanki later told newsmen in Ahmedabad that he was afraid that the BJP which is talking about a target of 150 seats don’t get stuck to 15 only. ‘The Congress is likely to get two third majority in Gujarat,’ he said adding that BJP made its government in Goa and Punjab by means of cheating even though Congress was the single largest party there.
