It will take 14 years to complete the Statue of Unity project: Congress whip

Gandhinagar: The Whip of Gujarat Congress Party and the MLA of Sidhpur Mr. Balvantsinh Rajput raised question regarding “Budget provision for Statue of Unity” in the assembly. In his reply Minister (Narmada) said that budget provision made for this project in Year 2014-15 was Rs. 100 crores , in 2015-2016 Rs. 75 cores and in 2016-17 Rs. 134 crores, totaling to 309 crores. Against which Rs. 433.57 crores was spent by the state government.
Rajput quoting government’s reply said, as on December 2016, Rs. 1979 crores of work is pending. Every year the state govt at an average spends Rs. 150 crores for this project. At this speed it will take 14 years to complete this work.
