13 arrested in connection with Vadavali violence

Patan: Police has arrested 13 people in connection with the communal violence in Vadavali village under Chansama police station of Patan district in North Gujarat in which one person of the village had died while four others were seriously injured.
Around 90 houses and huts in village were also burnt in the violence that escalated from a minor incident of altercation between two groups of the students on March 25.
Police said that of the 13 nabbed in this connection, all of whom have been booked under various sections of IPC including 302 ie of murder, 3 are from Vadavali while remaining 10 are from adjoining two to three villages.
Ibrahim L Khan (50), resident of the same village, died in the violence.
Police had to resort to opening fire in the air and lobbing tear gas shells to control the situation. Fire fighters had rushed to the village to put out the fire in houses torched by unruly mob earlier.
