No respite from non-seasonal heatwave as met dept elongates warning, Amreli hottest at 43.2

Ahmedabad: There seems to be no respite from the nonseasonal heat wave prevailing in several areas of Gujarat in the coming few days as the met department has elongated its warning in this regard for another day even as Amreli in Saurashtra region recorded the highest 43.2 °C to become the hottest place today.

There was a very marginal fall in temperatures at some places but the number of places with over 40°C temperature remained 13, similar to yesterday’s figure with
all the four largest cities of the state ie Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot and capital Gandhinagar continuing to be in this list. Surendranagar with 42.8 was second hottest while Vadodara at close third with 42.7 °C .

Ahmedabad showed a very marginal fall in maximum temperature at 42.4 today (compared to yesterday’s 42.8) which was still 4.8 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature at 27.2 °C was also almost 6 degrees above normal.

Amid the continuing northwesterly winds at lower levels bringing hotness from neighbouring Rajasthan, the met department has issued warning of heat wave for tomorrow as well though the level of severity has been brought down amid the trends of marginal lowering of mercury.

The simple heat wave warning (not severe) has been predicted for isolated places in North Gujarat.

The maximum and minimum temperatures at various places in Gujarat today was as following –
