Remove AC from Police Inspector, Sub Inspector chambers: Gujarat DGP
March 28, 2017
Gandhinagar: Gujarat Police chief DGP PP Pandey has in his directive asked all police inspectors and police sub inspectors to remove air-conditioning system from their offices as there’s no provision for them to avail this service and it increases electricity bill. Such an order was earlier issued by Surat Police Commissioner too for the reasons that Police Inspectors don’t mix withe the visitors as door of their office remain closed due to AC system. Also it has been observed that the cops don’t prefer to go to patrolling due to habit of passing time in AC chamber.
The DGP in his order said: It has been come to notice of DGP that in many police stations in urban area and in some police stations and ins ome police stations in rural areas police station incharges(Police Inspectors/Police Sub Inspectors), either through sponsorship of public or through other unauthorized way arrange air conditioning system. As per the rules, police inspectors or police sub inspector level officers are not eligible to have AC facility in offices. Such practice increases unavoidable burden of electricity cost for government. Also due to AC, many police station incahrges avoid going on patrolling in non-air conditioned atmosphere.
In order to control the crime, and for better patrolling, AC systems must be removed immediately and details regarding the date of installations, who paid the cost of AC(person/organization), date of removal of AC system must be sent DGP office within ten days. After removal of AC, no police station should install the system again. Related police commissioner/superintendent an other administrative officials will need ensure it.
