Builder abducted in broad daylight in Botad, released under police pressure:SP

Botad: A well-known builder of the city who was kidnapped in a dramatic manner from a public place close to bus stand here in broad daylight today was later left by the unknown abductors within hours owing to fear of police, SP Botad Saroj Kumari said.

Builder Dilawar Hamid, a resident of Paliyad road in the city, was kidnapped by four people and forcefully seated in a Bolero vehicle while he was having refreshment at a snacks shop close to bus stand this morning.

The CCTV of the incident become viral in the local news channels and social media which prompted police to lodge an FIR in this regard in the town police station even though the family members refused to do so.

SP Saroj Kumari said that since it was an occurrence of a public place and the CCTV footage established that he was sat in the vehicle forcefully, the police filed a case of abduction at its own. ‘We sent police in the possible areas for search and the abductors seemingly gave up under pressure and released him within hours near Gadhada. The builder however has refused to say anything though he had made a phone call to his family members and said that he was abducted owing to some internal rift and that the matter was being sorted out. He had also requested his family to not to lodge a complaint with police, most likely owing to fear,’ the SP said.

However, the police would interrogate him and investigate the matter to nabbed the culprits. We are minutely examining the CCTV footage of the incident, the SP said adding that currently the builder is shocked and traumatized and was not willing to speak up.
