Counselors appointed in Civil Hospital to avoid patient-doctor conflicts

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Civil Hospital situated in Asarwa area here, which is among one of the largest medical institutions in Asia, has appointed counselors in an attempt to avoid the incidents of ‘fight’ between the aggrieved relatives of patients and doctors which had recently led to two flash strikes of resident doctors.

The appointment of counselors was part of the negotiations between the state government, hospital management and the representatives of resident doctors.

The counselors as agreed would be on duty 24 hours.

Initially 5 counselors have been appointed who would be on duty in shifts.

Their job would be to pacify the aggrieved patients and help them in finding a solution to their problems.

Notably permanent deployment of police near trauma center and other parts of the hospital was also done recently in the wake of the two recent incidents of patient-doctor conflict.
