April 26, 2017
Rajkot: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today said that Gujarat Government has allocated Rs.1,000-crore to strengthen and increase the scope of Micro Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) as the driving force to make the state a growth engine of the country.
Inaugurating the ‘India Industrial Fair’ organized by Laghu Udyog Bharati at Rajkot, he said the entire infrastructure facility is being overhauled, including modernization of the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), to increase business and employment.
Since business is ingrained in the blood of the Gujarati people, he said that Gujarat has been in the forefront of the nation in business, industry and employment, making waves even abroad. The state has adopted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Schemes like Make in India, Digital India and Skill India – now with a new slogan of New India – to increase production and exports, attain self-reliance and earn foreign exchange. The state government has started the Babasaheb Ambedkar Udyog Uday Yojna in this year’s budget to assist the scheduled caste and tribe entrepreneurs under Standup India Scheme.
Mr. Rupani said that the Saurashtra region has been traditionally known for its small and medium scale industries, like Rajkot for kitchenware, foundry machine tools and furniture, Morbi for tiles, clocks and electronic goods, Jamnagar for brass parts and Alang for ship-breaking.
He said the government will shortly make industrial estates functional along the Saurashtra coast, exporting directly from such estates. The government is keen to activate single window facility for entrepreneurs setting up industries. He said that Rajkot has also become a hub for higher education in the Saurashtra region, training youth to be job-givers and not job-seekers.
Mr. Rupani went round the stalls. There are nearly 370 stalls have been erected at the four-day fair. There would also be seminars to discuss financing industrial development with environment, western railway vendor development, doing business with Vishwa Hindu Community, family business, entrepreneurship, credit guarantee scheme and textiles.
Minister of State for Industries Rohitbhai Patel reiterated the Gujarat Government’s commitment to implement industrial policies and welfare schemes to provide impetus to the industries in the state.
