Surat: Stent manufacturing foreign firms have challenged the government decision to cap the prices of stents in court. They are now mulling to stop supplying tent to India. If they do so, India will stop medicines supplied by those companies to India and encourage other nations.
Minister of State in Central government, Mansukh Mandavia said in Surat in meeting with local Chamber of Commerce office bearers.
Mandavia said the government is mulling to cap the prices of joint replacement too.The government has taken a decision to call company officials in this connection.
Mandavia said he was aware of new malpractice started by hospitals following stent price regulation. Cardiac hospitals have started offering stents at govt regulated price but at the same time they have now increased cathlab charge, nursing charge, lunch-dinner charge by 500-1200 fold and therefore final cost of treatment remains same. Mandavia said such hospitals will face action.
