E-tendering for Gujarat University Convention Center and GMDC ground: Base price Rs 11.5 crore

Ahmedabad: Gujarat University Convention Center and University ground popularly known as GMDC ground is presently rented by Gujarat University to private firm Gandhi Associate for Rs 8.5 crore per year charge. A five-year contract with Gandhi Associates is expiring on 31st of May this year. Gujarat University has now fixed base price of Rs 11.5 crore per year and floated online tender for five-year contract. Bid will start from Rs 11.5 crore onward and highest payer will get the contract if conditions are fulfilled. The University has added some fresh conditions for the next contract. The agency contracted will not be able to build any permanent structure over the ground. If some make-shift structure, permanent in nature is built, half of the rent for that structure will be payable to University. The contract will be reviewed every year. The university will be able to use the land and convention center for free for 12 days every year(in present contract 3 days per year).
