While Gujarat Congress promises farm loan waiver, look what happened in Punjab

Ludhiana: While Congress in Gujarat promises loan waiver to farmers if elected to power, this example of Punjab Congress is important to know.

Congress party had promised loan waiver to farmers in Punjab before the election. After elected to power, Congress has not fulfilled this promise as of now.

On Sunday Punjab BJP held its working committee meeting in Ludhiana in presence of national general secretary Ram Lal and MP and party’s Punjab affairs in-charge Prabhat Jha among others.

Punjab BJP chief Vijay Sampla told media persons that Congress in Punjab failed to honour its promise of farm loan waiver. He held it responsible for the continuing farmer suicides in Punjab and expressed apprehension that the rate of suicides might go up as the farmers had failed to secure bank loans.

He said most of the farmers had not returned their previous loan amounts as they had believed in the Congress’s promise of loan waiver. As they became defaulters, they could not even get fresh bank loans.
