South West Monsoon finally arrives Gujarat before time, no further advancement or much rain due to weakening

Gandhinagar: South Westerly Monsoon has finally touched Gujarat and that too before normal date of arrival.
But the bad news is that it has weakened considerably and is not going to advance further from Valsad to other parts of the state for at least four to five days.
Ahmedabad Met Center(Indian Meteorological Department) Director and senior meteorologist Jayanta Sarkar today said, ‘the SW monsoon has finally arrived Gujarat and entered southern district of Valsad. It is before time as the normal time of arrival of monsoon in the state was June 15. But it has weakened considerably and won’t move any further for at least next five days.”
‘In the next few days there won’t be much rain either. In the last few days we had seen a lot of rain activities but these were all pre monsoon things. Now for next at least five days we should not expect much rain despite official arrival of monsoon,’ he said adding that there would be only scattered rain in 4 to 5 days.
Notably, heavy rain had lashed many parts of South Gujarat and Suarashtra recently but it was pre monsoon activity caused by an upper cyclonic system over the state.
