June 27, 2017
Ahmedabad: RSS-affiliated Dalit group Bharatiya Bauddha Sangh will start a four-month Dalit Rath Yatra in Gujarat to clear the misconception about BJP and RSS spread by foreign funded and other faith groups, said its national president Bhante Sanghpriya Rahul. The yatra will be flagged off on June 30 by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in presence of deputy CM Nitin Patel and Union Minister Parshottam Rupala among others. BJP, RSS, VHP, Bajrang Dal leaders and cadres will participate in this yatra. Such programme was previously held in Uttar Pradesh. It is also going to be organized in the States like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha in future. Dalit Rath Yatra — would start from Ahmedabad and cover Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha and other parts in July before heading towards central Gujarat in August. It will then head south in September and conclude in Somnath on October 30, possibly in presence of Prime Minister Modi and also Japan Prime Minister Abe. The yatra aims to bridge the gap between the communities. It is focused on reaching out to communities where the practice of untouchability is still prevalent. A list of villages has been prepared where the divide between Dalits and upper caste communities is still there. Rahul said, Dalit community is misled by Christian and Islamic forces. Buddhism and Hinduism are two religions that are born in India and Dalits can choose to follow any.
