Rainy day in Ahmedabad city, here are all updates

Ahmedabad: Three gates of Vasna barrage have been opened to discharge excess water received by river Sabarmati owing to around two inches of average rain in the city till 5 pm in the evening today.

Kubernagar underpass was briefly closed for traffic for 20 minutes (from 0310pm to 0330pm) owing to water logging while the Akhbharnagar underpass remained closed for around 2 hours (0240pm to 0530pm), According to AMC control room.

Water logging was also seen in Shahpur mill compound and Arpan School in Ranip.

The zone-wise rain figures in the city from 6am to 5pm today was as following-

East Zone – 40.51 mm
West Zone- 55.89 mm
New West Zone – 40.50 mm
Central Zone – 53.50
North Zone – 76.16 mm
South Zone 17.50 mm
City Average – 47.34 mm

The water level in Sabarmati was 132 ft (danger level 137) at 2pm this afternoon after which two gates of Vasna Barrage were opened by one foot each at 0230pm, later at 3pm, one more gate was opened by one foot and at 4 pm all the three gates were lifted to 2 ft. The water level at 5 pm was 131.50 ft.

There was no big inflow in the river. the gates have been opened to clear the rain water. The outflow from the river at 5 pm was 4638 cusec while the inflow from Narmada canal was only 1008 cusec.
