Four nabbed for killing cow in North Gujarat sent to jail

Palanpur: The four people nabbed from Manpur village under Danta taluka of Banaskantha district of North Gujarat for killing a cow were sent to jail today.
PSI of Danta A R Vala said that the four identified as Ayub Vaghadia, Jamal Vaghadia, Aarif Ibrahim and Israel Vagahdia were nabbed last evening for killing the cow the day before allegedly with sharp edged weapons.
They have been booked under various sections of Gujarat Animal Preservation (Amendment) Act, 2017 which has provision of life imprisonment for killing a cow and section 429 of the IPC which also deals with cruelty towards animals,’ he said.
The PSI said that they were produced before a court today and were sent to jail.
Notably the amended act in Gujarat which has made stricter punishment provisions has also made most of the offenses mentioned in it non-bailable.
