Heavy to very heavy rain forecast for Saurashtra – Kutch, monsoon death toll 62 in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Among the places that received highest rain today during 8 am and 6 pm are Kamrej (131 mm), Bhesan (128 mm) and Veraval (127 mm). Apart from this Rajula, Visavdar, Vanthli talukas experienced over 4 inch rain while Junagadh city, Lathi, Amreli and Liliya talukas received over 3 inch rain.
Jetpur, Bagasara, Chikhli, Sutrapada, Vansda, Mendarda, Una, Olpad, Khergam, Dolvan, Kukarmundra, Manavdar, Babra and Palitana received over 2 inch rain.
35 other talukas received over 1 inch rain while 29 talukas received more than half inch rain.
So far 62 persons have lost life in Gujarat this year in connection with monsoon in addition to 972 cattle.
19 roads that are under the State government and Panchayat are closed for traffic due to heavy rain.
Water is released from Damanganga, Machhu – 2 and 3, kadana, Aaji – 2 and 4, Umiyasagar reservoirs.
IMD forecast conveys possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Saurashtra, Kutch, Diu-Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli in next 24 hours.
