July 24, 2017
Gandhinagar: The current spell of heavy to very heavy rain in Gujarat would continue for at least three more days and was likely to complete 70% of total average seasonal monsoon rain, IMD Ahmedabad center Jayanta Sarkar today said.
He also said that the current spell of very heavy rain in North Eastern Gujarat was caused by a current system over Southern Gujarat and an associated upper cyclonic circulation extending up to a height of 7.6 km. Owing to it the spell of heavy to very heavy rain would continue for at least next 3 days.
It would cause heavy to very heavy rain in North Eastern parts of Gujarat today and tomorrow and later the system would shift towards Kutch which was likely to witness good rain on July 26.
Sarkar, who was here to participate in a review meeting by the Chief Minister later told newsmen that the state has so far received 61% rain and was likely to complete 70% of it during the current spell. This was much higher than the comparative rain figures of last 3 to 4 years.
