Met predicts another spell of heavy rain in Gujarat on Aug 19

Ahmedabad: Met has predicted another spell of heavy rain at isolated places in Gujarat after three days.

The met bulletin here today said that heavy rain was very likely at isolated places over Gujarat region and adjoining union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli on August 19. It has predicted light to moderate rain for the three days prior to that.

The bulletin did not clearly attribute any reason for the heavy rain but it showed the presence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over South Pakistan and adjoining Kutch extending from 1.5 to 2.1 km above sea level.

In the last 24 hours light rains or thundershowers took place at a few places over South Gujarat and at isolated places over North Gujarat and Saurashtra, the bulletin said.

The highest temperature across Gujarat was 34.8 °C at Kandla airport today while Ahmedabad saw a maximum of 33.2°C almost a notch above normal. The weather at many places including Ahmedabad today on the occasion of Independence day cum Janamashtami was partly cloudy.
