Met issues somewhat revised rainfall warning, heavy spells likely on August 20, 21
August 17, 2017
Ahmedabad: The met department today issued somewhat revised weather related warning with likelihood of heavy rain on August 20 and 21 at isolated places in Gujarat which has already seen some extremely heavy spells of rainfall.
The met bulletin today said that heavy rain was very likely at isolated places over Gujarat region (South, Central and North Gujarat) and adjoining union territory of Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli on August 20 while the same was likely at isolated places over Gujarat region, Saurashtra, Kutch and the UTs of Diu, Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli on the next day ie August 21.
An earlier bulletin had predicted heavy rain from August 19.
Though the bulletin has not attributed the reason behind the possibility of heavy rain, it is understood that an upper air cyclonic circulation over bay of Bengal causing heavy rain in eastern parts of the country would move further west to cause the rain.
Meanwhile the change in wind pattern from south westerly to westerly has marginally lowered the humidity. The temperature have also soared marginally with Gandhinagar and Rajkot recording a combined highest of 35°C. Ahmedabad saw the maximum of 34.6 °C which was 2.6°C higher than normal.
