Surat/Vadodara/Rajkot:
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today said that to check the spread of swine flu in the state, the treatment formula of ‘any flu tamiflu’ should be adopted.
Rupani who visited the isolation wards of civil hospitals of Surat, Vadodara and his home town Rajkot in a day today, told newsmen that Swine flu should not be seen as the ‘end of everything’.
‘With suitable and timely treatment it can be easily cured. It comes in cycle and August is peak point of this cycle. The need of the hour is to find out the cases at the earliest and provide them treatment quickly,’ he said.
‘My appeal to the doctors is whenever patients with symptoms of fever and flu approach any of them whether they belong to allopathy, homeopathy, ayurved or any other category, they should immediately be treated with Tamiflu (the most effective medicine of the H1N1 virus caused disease). Whether or not the flu has been diagnosed as swine flu, no chance should be taken and it should be treated with tamiflu, the most effective medicine in treatment of the dreaded disease. The slogan for effective check on it should be ‘any flu tamiflu’,’ he said.
Ruapni said that Tamiflu has been made available in adequate amount to all the hospitals and medical stores for free distribution to the flu patients. Earlier one needed three fold prescription to get it. But now this in not needed any more. Most of the medical stores have Tami flu in abundance and those who don’t, can approach the civil hospitals concerned to get it immediately. Even the private hospitals have been instructed to provide tamiflu to flu patients for free. There was no dearth of this medicine. The government has ensured that the dearth of medicine must not come in the way of treatment of swine flu.
The CM said that isolation wards have been set up in all the civil hospitals. Ventilators and oxygen have been made available in these to treat the critical cases.
Minister of state for health Shanker Chaudhary and Chief Secretary J N Singh also accompanied CM Rupani in the visits to isolation ward for which they had to wear special masks also.
Notably so far around 2000 positive cases and over 200 deaths owing to swine flu has been reported in the state since January this year. Of these over 1400 cases were in August alone. The state government has conducted a state wide health check up survey involving 17000 teams.
