The ministry stays two-tire. As expected, the cabinet rank is balanced with caste and regional representation. As per conventional practice adopted by BJP governments in Gujarat, cabinet rank is given to at least one Kadva Patel, one Leuva Patel, one Kshatriya, one tribal(ST), one dalit(SC) and one Other Backward Class(OBC). In today’s cabinet formation, two Leuva Patels and two Kadva Patels are inducted in cabinet rank. This is in addition to one Kadva Patel Deputy Chief Minister. Thus the presence of Patels over others in cabinet rank is eye-catching. OBC face in previous cabinet, Babubhai Bokhiria is dropped from cabinet. He can possibly find place as the Speaker of Gujarat assembly.
