First core committee meeting of ruling BJP in Gujarat after govt formation being held

The first core committee meeting of ruling BJP in Gujarat after formation of the party government was taking place in the state headquarter of the party Shrikamalam at Koba near here this evening on the new year day.

Apart from CM Vijay Rupani, Dy CM Nitin Patel and party president Jeetu Vaghani, Senior Ministers including Bhupendra Chudasama, R C Faldu, Ganpat Vasava and former minister Shankar Chaudhary were also participating in the meeting/

A party leader said that the meeting would discuss several issues including the party’s prospects and preparations for the upcoming local body polls in Gujarat. ‘There will be elections in several municipalities and local bodies in districts in February and our focus would be on Zila Panchayats and Taluka Panchayats more. The party want to regain its ground in the rural belts. The recent assembly polls results also show that the party was strong as usual in urban pockets but there were issues in the rural areas,’ he said.

‘We will have to chalk out strategy to strengthen us in the rural areas so that we get desired results in Zila and Taluka Panchayats going to polls. Also 2019 was not far away and we want to work on that too. Last time the party had won all the 26 seats in Loksabha polls in Gujarat and the party would like to repeat the feat,’ he said.
