January 25, 2018
Ahmedabad:
Ahmedabad today witnessed below 10 degree Celsius minimum temperature even as Naliya remained coldest for the second consecutive day with 7.4 ° C amid return of cold owing to snowfall in Northern states.
The met department has however said that there won’t be any further downward turn in mercury in the next two days. ‘There won’t be any significant change in minimum temperatures in the next 2 days,’ the met bulletin said.
Gandhingar was the second coldest today at 8.2° C while Valsad in South Gujarat recorded a minimum of 9.1° C and Deesa seeing the mercury going down to 9.7° C. In Ahmedabad the minimum at 9.8° C was over 2 notches below normal.
The return of cold (though there was no cold wave warning) during last couple of days has been attributed to the heavy snowfall in Northern state coupled with Northern and Northeasterly winds which were prevailing at lower levels and bringing cold from north at several places in the state.
The maximum and minimum temperatures at various places across Gujarat today were as follows –
