Dahej – Ghogha passenger ferry service operation resumes
February 02, 2018
Gandhinagar: After the planned halt for installation of link-span for vehicle movement at Ghogha, the Ghogha-Dahej passenger ferry service has resumed operation today.
Operations were suspended on January 3 for installation of 820 tonne, 96 metres long link span on Ghogha side. Similar link span at Dahej side has been installed already. With this the infrastructural works on both sides are completed.
Once a new ferry vessel capable of carrying both passengers and vehicles arrives from South Korea, the movement of passengers along with vehicles like cars, trucks and buses will be possible. This may take about two-month time.
For now, passenger ferry will leave Ghogha at 7.30 am and 3.30 pm and leave Dahej at 11.30 am and 5.15 pm. The service was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2017. As many as 24,000 passengers were transported through this service till January 3.
