Ma Amrutam Yojana fake card issuance scam: Scamsters were using rubber thumb with fingerprint impression created over it

Surat: Scamsters find their way to do scam. They even jump the restrictions of biometric thumb impression.

In Surat, in last one week, police has recovered two rubber thumbs with fingerprint impression fixed over it in two different scams.

Recently, in fake Aadhar card scam, police had recovered rubber thumb with fingerprint design created over it. Now in another incident, the District Health Officer’s team has recovered a rubber thumb from scamsters who were caught issuing fake Ma Amrutam Yojana cards.

Ma Amrutam card is a card issued by the State government for below poverty line and above poverty line people. The card avails free medical treatment upto Rs 2 lakh per year for entire family through designated government and private hospitals.

District Health Officer’s team had recovered 47 fake Maa Amrutam Yojana cards from a gang in Surat in Dabholigam area of Sardarnagar in Surat and held Digvijaysinh Dipsinh Chauhan and Parthrajsinh Chauhan on 3rd February night. Rajkot based Anil D Sarvaiya is wanted in this case.

Police recovered 47 fake Ma cards, material used to make fake cards, rubber thumb and thumb impression machine from culprits.

It’s worth noting that police had recovered similar rubber thumb from Pandesara in Aadhar card scam.

The government appointed person who operates software for making of Ma Amrutam Yojana card and Aadhar card needs to apply his thumb impression to open the software for issuance of card.

The District Health Officer’s team had arranged a trap after receiving information that some persons in Dabholi area were issuing fake Ma Amrutam Yojana card for Rs 10,000.

Songadh’s Bhushan Kaklute was sent as dummy customer.The scamsters issued Aadhar card for Kaklute just on the basis of his Aadhar card. As soon as Kaklute’s card was issued, police and District Health Officer’s team came into action and nabbed the accused.

As per the admission made by accused Chauhan brothers, they have made more than 450 fake Ma Amrutam Yojana cards.
