GPSC class – 1, class – 2 exam result declared in record 363 days

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Public Service Commission(GPSC) has declared class -1 and class – 2 exams results in record 363 days time period. In the past GPSC exams would be called five-year programme due to delays in results. In this case, it is for the first time after formation of Gujarat State that the examination process has been completed within one year.
As many as 2.94 lakh candidates from all over Gujarat had registered for the exams of 83 vacancies of class – 1 and 252 vacancies of class – 2, in total 335 jobs for which advertisement was published on 15th of March last year.
The exams were conducted across 32 districts on 4th June last year. 1.71 lakh candidates had appeared in primary test, result of which was declared in record 40 days period on 14th of July. In total 6056 students were shortlisted for written test which was conducted on 17, 23 and 24 September in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. 5694 candidates appeared in this exam following which 1045 were called for interviews.
It’s worth mentioning that UPSC and GPSC civil service recruitment process are going on parallelly. In both cases, online applications were to be filed by 31st of March 2017. Prelims for both exams were conducted in June 2017 and results were declared in July 2017. GPSC main exam was conducted in September 2017 while UPSC October 2017. GPSC interviews were conducted during 12-18 February while UPSC 19 February – 30th April. Thus for the first time, GPSC exam has been over earlier than UPSC.
