Notice of deputy LoP Parmar for removal of assembly speaker included in agenda of the house for tomorrow
March 21, 2018
Gandhinagar:
The notice by deputy leader of opposition Shailesh Parmar for moving a motion for removal of Gujarat Assembly speaker Rajendra Trivedi from his post has been included in tomorrow’s agenda of the house.
Whip of main opposition Congress Amit Chavda said that after the question hour tomorrow the notice would be supported by Congress MLAs (a least 17 as per the rule) and after that a date which would be within 7 working days from tomorrow, would be fixed for discussion on the motion and voting on it.
Notably Parmar had given the notice on February 28 under article 179 of the constitution for moving a resolution for removal of speaker from his post.
Parmar had given the notice after the decision Trivedi to suspend Congress MLAs from the house for the day that day after ruckus on the issue of tax on petrol and diesel in the state. As per the rule the notice should be given 14 days in advance after which the resolution is moved in the house for voting on it within 7 working days.
Notably, a point of order raised by LoP Paresh Dhanani regarding alleged delay in including the notice in the agenda of house was rejected yesterday.
Congress has alleged that Trivedi, the BJP MLA from Raopura in Vadodara was elected as speaker with consensus but he was not behaving properly with opposition members.
The budget session of the assembly which started on February 19 would end on March 28.
