March 29, 2018
Rajkot:
CM Vijay Rupani today appealed people to not to damage the water supply lines and report to the collector offices in their respective areas if there was any shortage of drinking water.
Rupani told newsmen here that the incident of intentional damage of valve of the pipe in Suryarampara village was unfortunate and strict action would be taken against the culprits.
He said that the pipe was damaged by some people and strict action has been initiated. Some people have also been rounded up in this connection.
‘I appeal that such acts should not be committed. If there was shortage of water in any area, the collector office should be informed. The collectors have been instructed to hold water committee meetings every week to review the situation,’ he said.
‘Drinking water would be made available wherever necessary free of cost,’ the CM said.
Notably, large amount of water was destroyed owing to damage in the valve on the main line supplying water from Machhu-1 dam to Aaji 1 dam which is known as the life-center of water supply of Rajkot city. It took almost 4 days to stop the unwanted flow of water. Now the supply of water in the pipe line has been stopped for complete repair of this all important water supply line.
