Police today arrested former Gujarat MLA Mahipatsinh Jadeja for allegedly attacking a group of probationary officers of the Indian Forest Service (IFS) near his house in Ribda village under Gondal Taluka police station of Rajkot district last month.
Rural SP Rajkot Antrip Sood today said that Mahipatsinh Jadeja was arrested from his house in Ribda at 1040 am today.
A total of 47 probationary IFS officers, all from outside Guajrat, were returning to Ahmedabad on March 25 in a bus after completing a 23-day study tour of Gir National Park to catch a flight to Delhi but on the way, they had stopped at a petrol pump near Ribda village where officers got down to freshen up. However, some of them had an altercation with Jadeja who lives near the pump after they were stopped from urinating in the open and light cigarettes.
One of the officers Vipin Kumar Singh filed complaint in Gondal Taluka police station that Jadeja and his men tried to run them over with a vehicle.
Sood said that so far 3 of the accused including Jadeja and the driver of the vehicle have been arrested.
