Fast and sit-ins of Congress proved to be fiasco at several places in Gujarat

The fast and sit-ins by main opposition Congress in Gujarat as part of their nation-wide event for promoting communal harmony and protesting atrocities against Dalits, today proved to be a fiasco of sorts at many places in the state.

Even as the picture of several prominent Congress leaders in Delhi having a sumptuous breakfast before participating in the ‘fast’ went viral on social media, the party organized sit-ins and dharnas at all the district headquarters in the state.

Despite both the district and Taluka Panchayat in the party fold in Himmatnagar, the headquarter town of north Gujarat district of Sabarkantha, quite a handful of leaders were visible on the occasion there. The fast was also ended in almost 2 hours time.

In Rajkot city, the district president of Congress and former MLA Indranil Rajyaguru reportedly did not turn up.

The event in front of town-hall in Bhuj, Gandhi statue in Mahesana, near municipality building in Navsari were also not very impressive.

However 3 MLAs participated in the event in Veralval. In Amreli the home town of LoP Paresh Dhanai, apart from Dhanani several senior party leaders including Virji Thummar also remained present in the event held at Rajkamal crossing.

GPCC president Amit Chavda participated in the sit-in event in Vadodara.
