April 09, 2018
Ahmedabad:
Taking strong exception of controversial Congress supported Independent MLA Jignesh Mewani’s ultimatum to BJP, senior Dalit leader and party MP from Ahmedabad-West Loksabha seat Kirit Solanki today threw a counter-challenge to him.
The Vadgam MLA who is often in lime-light for wrong reasons/his controversial statements.had in a function here yesterday said that if BJP government at center did not bring an ordinance to nullify the supreme court order on SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities), his supporters and other dalits would make human chains around all the Ambedkar statues and won’t let BJP leaders garland them on 14 th April ie Ambedkar Jayanti.
Solanki today said that he along with others would go to the Ambedkar statue in Sarangpur in Ahmedabad city to garland it as usual on that day and it was his challenge to Mewani to stop him.
‘Mewani who is always in to controversies, perhaps did not even know that Baba Saheb was the one made the constitution which gives maintenance of law and order great importance. Who is he to issue such ultimatums. No one is above the law and it will take its own course if some one tries to behave like anarchist,’ he said.
Meanwhile, DyCM Nitin Patel also hit back at Mewani saying that he was issuing such ultimatums sitting in the lap of Congress which never gave Baba Saheb his due and did not conferred Bharat Ratna to him or Sardar Patel for decades. Mewani who was indulging in the low grade politics must also know that Congress always tried to ensure defeat of Baba Saheb in elections.
Patel said that Congress was only interested in caste conflict for electoral gains.
