Land Jihad: Citizens in Mahesana files plea seeking coverage of their locality under Disturbed Area Act
May 13, 2018
Mahesana: The citizens of three residential societies in this district headquarters town have filed civil suit in local court of Civil Judge NR Jain, seeking their area to be covered under the Disturbed Area Act.
Presidents of three societies – Sarjan Bungalows, Golden Bungalows and Sairam Society have sought court’s stay order against transfer of document of properties by registrar office in areas from Biladibaug to Ashram chokdi and Dhobighat Neliya. The court has given time upto 12th June to sub registrar to file his reply.
This is perhaps first of its type of case in which the citizens are seeking their area to be covered under the Disturbed Area Act. The local allege that Muslims first purchase one or two housing units at very higher price in Hindu areas and start living in Muslim style which is not suitable to Hindu neighbors. The Muslims later purchase the other properties at negligible price as Hindus start leaving the area in compulsion.
It should be noted here that recently there have been similar complains in Surat, Vadodara an Ahmedabad about urgent need to further strengthen the Desturbed Area Act, more coverage of areas under this act and proper implementation of the act.
