67.50% pass Gujarat board’s SSC 2018 exam, Surat tops the table again, girls outperform boys

Around 67.50% of the regular examinees of the SSC 2018 Exam (class 10 exam) conducted by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board have passed.

A total of 1103854 examines (included repeated, external and others) had enrolled for the exam conducted from March 12 to 23 this year. Of these a total of 1085938 actually appeared in it. There were total 790240 regular students of whom 533144 ie 67.50% have passed. Amid 233476 repeat examines only a little over 14% have passed while only 6.94% of the 37725 private/external candidates have managed to pass.

This year’s result of regular students was a little poorer than last year’s when the pass percentage was 68.24%.

District-wise Surat, which had given the best pass percentage last year has again performed the best with highest 80.06% while Dahod at lowest 37.35% is the worst performer.

Center wise Khorasa in Junagadh district with 96.93% was the best while Sukhsar in Dahod district at 5.93% was the worst.

Girls with 72.69% pass percentage have again outperformed the boys (63.73%).

Gujarati medium students pass percentage was the worst at 65.16% (even worst than that of Marathi, Urdu, Tamil and Oriya). English medium has 90.12% results while Hindi medium has 72.30.

A total of 6378 students have passed with A1 grade and 33956 with A2 grade. A total of 368 schools have given 100% results. This number last year was 451.

Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that the state government would see to it that the result of Gujarati medium improve in the coming years.

The board published the results on its websites www.gseb.org and gipl.net at 8 am today.

The mark-sheets can be collected from various centers in all the districts from 11 am to 4 pm.
