Cloudy weather, especially during morning hours, at several places in Gujarat owing to pre-monsoon activities

Several parts of Gujarat including its largest city Ahmedabad and various northern and central regions saw a cloudy morning today as an early sign of pre-monsoon activity on a day when south west monsoon set foot in Kerala.

in-charge director of met center here Manorama Mohanty today said that the pre-monsoon atmospheric activities in Gujarat have started. The humid westerly to north westerly winds were aiding in it.

‘Moisture content in the air has increased owing to the humid winds and this has given rise to cloud formation activities. Even parts of South and South Eastern Gujarat, South Saurashtra and some other parts can see thundershowers in the next few days for the same reason,’ she added.

The clouds during the day time vanished at most of the places where the morning was somewhat overcast. The lessening of humidity with the progress of daytime caused the disappearance of clouds.

Temperatures across Gujarat has also seen marginal drop owing to the rise in moisture and pre-monsoon activities.

Such atmospheric activities, if continued for long, would help South West Monsoon reach Gujarat in time or even before time. The normal time of arrival of monsoon in this western state is June 15.
