First pre-monsoon showers at several places in Gujarat

Ahmedabad:

Districts of Amreli, Bhavnagar, Dangs today received pre-monsoon showers even as sudden rain made live seasonal rain-fed rivers and rivulets in the areas and a car reportedly was washed away in one such flash flood in Navli river in Amreli.

However no casualty has been reported so far.

As predicted by the met light to moderate rain happened at several places owing to increased humidity in the air.

Vanda, Fifad, Mekda, and other villages in and around Savarkundala in Amreli district saw rain accompanied by strong winds. Over an inch of rain was received in just an hour. This flooded the rain-fed Navli river owing to which a car was washed away. Several villages in Amreli taluka also received rain.

In Gariyadhar of Bhavnagar also rain accompanied by strong winds poured.

Likewise Dangs district in South Gujarat and the hill station of Saputara also received rain.

People and children in the areas of rain were seen enjoying the first pre-monsoon showers. Farmers in Saurashtra region looked happy with the possibility of timely or even early arrival of South West Monsoon.

Meanwhile, the met bulletin today has predicted dry weather tomorrow and day after and another spell of pre-monsoon showers at isolated places in South Gujarat and adjoining union territory of Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

The humidity in the southwesterly winds prevailing at lower levels has brought temperatures moderately down again. The highest temperature of 43 °C was recorded in Surendranagar today. In Ahmedabad it was 41.9°C.
