Rally regarding land acquisition for bullet train project evokes poor response in Surat district
June 19, 2018
Surat: Protest rally on Monday regarding land acquisition issues related to proposed Mumbai – Ahmeadbad bullet train project didn’t evoke good response. Against the announcement of participation of over 300 tractors, only six tractors participated in rally. The number of farmers who joined the rally was merely 50.
Primary demand of farmer is compensation of their land as per the market rate and not Jantri rate. They claim that market rate is much higher than Jantri rate.
53 hectare land belonging to 26 villages of Surat district is going to be acquired for bullet train project.
