Lady Director of NGO nabbed in South Gujarat for fraud/scam

Navsari:

A lady director of an NGO has been arrested by police from Navsari in connection with a scam pertaining to fraudulent withdrawal of money to the tune of several crores from accounts of various people after getting their documents by luring them of allotment of houses under Chief Minister Housing Scheme and other government schemes.

The Director of Girnari Seva Trust, Bhaveshree Davda was nabbed from a place near Tighra in Navsari during a joint operation by the Dangs, Navsari and Valsad police.

Police has reportedly recovered various documents pertaining to the scam. Also 2 laptops, one tablet, 8 mobile phones, 3 pen-drive, fake rubber stamps, visiting cards etc have also been seized.

The raid in Navsari was conducted today in connection with the frauds committed in Dangs district. However, it is being suspected that it was not limited to just Dangs. The lady director alleged that several senior officials of Dang including the collector B K Kumar were also involved in it.She alleged that Kumar was also among those received money from the scam.

The collector however categorically denied the charges terming it baseless.

Meanwhile Police was trying to catch the main operator of the NGO Ankit Mehta whose house was raided today.

According to police such fraud has also been committed in districts like Navsari, Gandhinagar, Sabarkantha and Banaskantha among others.

The nabbed lady director has claimed that more than a dozen other NGO’s were also involved in the scam.

Police said that detailed investigation was on.
