Man who threatened Congress spokeswoman to rape her daughter nabbed from Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad:

The man who had allegedly recently used indecent language against Congress spokeswoman Priyanka Chaturvedi on twitter has been arrested from Ahmedabad and taken to Mumbai where Ms Chaturvedi had lodged a case in Goregaon pollice station in this regard.

The 38 year old Congress leader has expressed her gratitude toward Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who intervened in the matter and instructed the authorities to nab the culprit at the earlierst.

A police official here today said that the Mumbai police and Delhi police in a joint operation last night nabbed Girish Maheshwari, a sales personnel in a private company here. He has been taken to Mumbai for production in court and further action.

Girish, against whom a case under POCSO Act and various sections of IT Act has been lodged for his alleged threat to Ms Chaturvedi to rape her 10 year old daughter.

Though the matter is still under investigation.

Notably, Ms Chaturvedi had to face trolling and abusive languages on Twitter after an alleged fake quote about support of the accused of the recent gang-rape of a seven-year-old in Mandsaur was attributed to her. One of them was a tweet from the handle @GirishK1605 that threatened to allegedly rape her 10-year-old daughter.

He was traced on the basis of mobile phone location and nabbed.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh had also instructed the authorities to nab the man immediately.

Ms Chaturvedi has thanked Mumbai and Delhi police for the action and expressed her gratitude towards Home Minister Rajnath Singh for the quick action.
