July 25, 2018
Gandhinagar:
The met warning of heavy to very heavy rain in parts of Gujarat today is also seemingly proving to be a fiasco as it was proven yesterday.
The met department had in its forecast said that the idle monsoon will again become active and there would be spells of heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of North, Central and South Gujarat on July 23 and 24.
Yesterday 103 talukas saw rain in 24 districts but none saw very heavy rain. The highest was 80mm in Dabhoi of Vadodara.
Today till 12 pm though 37 talukas have seen rain but the maximum was only 10 mm in Mangrol taluka of Surat district. The second highest of 8 mmwas in Umerpada of Surat.
So far close to 54% of rain during this monsoon season has been recorded.
It had arrived late by around a week in Gujarat this time but became vigorous causing several spells of extremely heavy downpour.
For the past 4 days monsoon has again become somewhat idle.
