Rickshaw strike in Ahmeadbad on Monday, July 30th
July 26, 2018
Ahmedabad: Rickshaw drivers, owners and operators will go on strike on Monday, July 30th in Ahmedabad, protesting against the city traffic police’s drive against haphazard and illegal parking of vehicles on roads. While traffic police’s drive has earned lot of admiration among the citizens and even from the High Court, rickshaw drivers complain that it harms their interest as there are not enough designated rickshaw stands in the city. It should be noted that the city has 10 times more rickshaws than required. Contrary to Delhi and other places, there’s no cap on the number of rickshaws in Ahmedabad. Rickshaws alltogather occupy space on the roads of Ahmedabad equaling to many cricket stadiums.
