AMC forces suspension of a major commercial construction for violation of GDCR norms

Ahmedabad: In a major action, the municipal corporation here has cancelled permissions for development and construction of ‘Swaminarayan Business Park’ in Narol-Ranipur area of city. The construction site has been sealed and legal actions are being taken against developers as per a note issued by AMC.

According to details shared by AMC, a major commercial construction was underway by ‘Umang Thakkar and Partners’, ‘Dharmadev Infrastructure’, ‘HM Infra Project Ltd’ and ‘Nil Umangbhai Thakkar and partners’ under the title of Swaminarayan Business Park in TP(town planning) scheme 62 of Narol-Ranipur. AMC had given permission for construction of 495 commercial units across 6 blocks (A,B,C,D,D/1,E) from basement to third floor.

The builders had sought and received AMC nod for Building Use(BU) permission to 68 commercial units of block ‘D’, construction of which has completed.

However, Deputy Commissioner (Non Agriculture) gave opinion that said applicant had presented fake documents to get NA(Non Agriculture) permission. Following this, the AMC has cancelled development permission to ‘Swaminarayan Business Park’ and building use permission to block ‘D’ of ‘Swaminarayan Business Park’ for violation of GDCR provisions and terms attached to permission letter. AMC has also cancelled license of developers of ‘Swaminarayan Business Park’ and forced suspension of construction activity of all types at the site.
