Low pressure over head bay of Bengal, parts South and East Central Gujarat likely to see increased rainfall

Ahmedabad:

Gujarat can expect some increased rainfall activities in its Southern and East Central parts on August 8 and 9 under the influence of an atmospheric system developing over head bay of Bengal which is likely to move in North-Westerly direction and make monsoon partly active again.

IMD center Gujarat Director Jayant Sarkar today said that there is likelihood of increased rainfall activity in parts of South and East Central Gujarat region on August 8 and 9.

‘As there is one system developing over the head bay of Bengal and is likely to move in north westerly direction causing some increased rainfall activities in Gujarat as well. It is currently a low pressure area only will take some time to covert into a cyclonic circulation, so we will be able to do a more accurate forecast about its impact after another 24 hours,’ he said.

Sarkar said that the cyclonic circulation over North Konkan and adjoining south Gujarat which had caused some spells of heavy rainfall in extreme southern areas recently has vanished.

He said that the southern Gujarat is likely to see a few spells of heavy rainfall on August 9 but it won’t be of any alarming scale.

Notably the state has so far seen over 54% rain but the stopping of rain for past few days especially in Saurashtra region has caused worries among farmers. Saurahtra as per the met forecast is not likely to see any good spell of rain in coming few days.
