AMC demolition drive enters Bhadra, Bhathiyar Gali, Asarwa, Kankaria, Shah Alam

Ahmedabad: AMC (Amdavad Municipal Corporation) drive to clear encroachments from roads, parking and margin space and footpaths continued today in sensitive area of Bhadra, Patva Sheri and Bhathiyar Gali in wall city Ahmedabad in presence of police force. ACP level police officers, inspectors, sub inspectors and staff of police stations along with AMC staff have joined the drive.

Patva Sheri, Bhathiyar Gali, Tran Darwaja are Muslim populated areas. These areas have history of violence in the past. Police has therefore deployed massive force. Hawkers in Bhadra areas were first asked to remove encroachment on their own and given time for that. Police is also keeping local leaders in loop to get cooperation from local people. While locals are admiring police and AMC action, they are however concerned about impact to their businesses.

Illegal construction of dozens of commercial properties are being demolished in Sarkhej cross road areas around hotel Sabar. Encroachment removal drive is also going on in Asarwa and Meghaninagar area. Some commercial properties that are not allowing access to parking space are given notice.

Another drive is going on in stretch between Kankaria lake front gate-01 to Shah Alam toll naka.

Similar drives continued in Rajkot, Vadodara and other cities.
