Met now lifts heavy rainfall warning for Gujarat completely for next 4 days

Ahmedabad:

Even as the synoptic situation is not looking favourable for any good-spell of rain anytime soon in Gujarat, the met department today lifted completely its heavy rain warning and said that only light to moderate rainfall would take place at isolated places in the state in next 4 days.

The met had yesterday issued heavy rainfall warning for 2 districts in south Gujarat for August 29 and as many districts in East central Gujarat the next day. Prior to that it has also issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for August 28 and 29.

In today’s met bulletin the same has been lifted and no fresh heavy rain warning has been issued for the coming four days.

It said that due to an upper air cyclonic circulation over South Gujarat some places might see a few spells of heavy rain today, however till 6 pm in the evening the maximum rain was 33mm at Umergam of Valsad closely followed with 32mm by Waghai in neighbouring Dangs district. Mahuva in Bhavnagar has seen 25mm. In all 53 talukas have seen light to moderate rain.

The state, has so far seen only a little over 70% of average monsoon rain.
