After flop ‘fast-unto-death’, Hardik sits on ‘symbolic’ fast, event looked like extension of a Congress event

Morbi: Congress backed PAAS leader Hardik Patel today sat on a symbolic fast in Bagathala village in Morbi district.
After the fiasco of his recent controversial fast unto death at his residence in Ahmedabad, his event today looked more like an extension of an event of opposition party.
Congress leader and former MLA Kanu Kalsariya also shared stage with him. Local Congress MLA Lalit Kagathara and a large number of Congress supporters also participated.
Hardik also continued his anti government rhetoric. Apart from the three demands; farmer’s loan-waiver, patidar quota and release of his aide Alpesh Kathiria arrested in sedition case. (none of which were accepted by the government) he also added a demand regarding Morbi in his list of demands today.
He said that he would continue the symbolic fasts in 160 talukas of 28 districts in coming days.
Notably the PAAS leader who after a major fiasco of his controversial ‘fast unto death’ had gone to Bengaluru for Naturopathy treatment in the Jindal Nature Care Institute where Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was treated earlier, had recently returned to Gujarat.
During his earlier fast which started on August 25 at his Greenwood resort residence and ended after several back-tracks, controversies and drama like situation on September 12, the government showed a tough stance and he got no response or any assurance from it.
Now it seems that Hardik, whom many of his opponents blame to be on the ‘pay-roll’ of Congress party of which he allegedly works as an agent of sorts, is under pressure to somehow keep the agitation going in the wake of next LS polls.
