Congress is trying to put Statue of Unity in controversy:DyCM Nitin Patel

Gandhinagar: Deputy CM Nitin Patel today alleged that Congress was trying to put grand ‘Statue of Unity’ of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in controversy and its senior leaders were giving insulting statements for the iconic leader.

Addressing a press conference here today said that the 182 meter tall statue was to be unveiled after two days and the whole world was looking at it with awe. ‘But unfortunately, some people were looking such a holy work with political and short-sighted eyes,’ he said.

Hitting out at Congress he said that in the past several leaders of a family had tried to downsize the leaders like Sardar Patel, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Subhashchandra Bose and Vir Sarvarka in the books of history. ‘Just two days before the unveiling of such a grand work, rather than rejoicing with pride, Congress party was trying to make it controversial,’ he alleged.

He said that Congress perhaps don’t like that the statue was announced by the then CM Narendra Modi and completed when he is PM. ‘The leader of opposition in Gujarat Assembly Paresh Dhanani uses word ‘scrap’ for the iron equipment collected from lakhs of farmers across the country for the project. The congress leaders are using in-usable words for such a holy project,’ Patel said.

‘In fact congress does not like that PM Modi, during whose tenure as CM it was wiped from Gujarat and after his becoming PM it has been thrown out of power in most of the states, has completed such a big thing,’ he said.
